Biosome, Inc. is a biotechnology company that is founded upon an innovative nanoparticle-based detection technology with applications in pathogen detection, medical diagnostics, and food and water safety. Biosome has developed a system for the fast and cost-effective detection of bacteria.

 

The Biosome^®system uses patented fluorecent nanoparticles. Each nanoparticle contains both bacterial detection and fluorecent signal generation components. These nanoparticles are impregnated into bacterial growth media. Bacterial secretions trigger a blue to red color change and an intense fluorescent signal that is easily measured with our system. The system is less expensive, faster, and easier to use than conventional methods, and has many uses in disease prevention and treatment.

 

Biosome, Inc. is a spin-out of Analytical Biological Services (ABS) Inc.
Biosome was founded to commercialize a novel technology developed by ABS, to solve a largely unmet need in the pharmaceutical industry. Founded in 1990, ABS serves clients in every major pharmaceutical company in the U.S. and Europe, providing custom biological products and services for drug discovery.
